MANUFACTURE OF NICKEL POSITIVE PLATE FOR ALKALINE STORAGE BATTERY

PURPOSE:To increase conductivity and mechanical performance by filling a paste-like mixture prepared by kneading an active material mainly comprising nickel hydroxide and conductive polymer powder with water or an organic solvent in a porous metal plate, then drying it. CONSTITUTION:A paste-like mixture prepared by kneading an active material mainly comprising nickel hydroxide and conductive polymer powder with water or an organic solvent is filled in a porous metal plate, then dried. As the active material, nickel hydroxide powder having a mean particle size of 200M'e or less is used. As the conductive polymer, polypyrrole, polythiophene, polyaniline, polyazulene, polycarbazole, polydibenzocarbazole, polydiphenylamine, polyindole, polyacetylene or the like having a conductivity of 10-10 S/cm is used. These polymers are prepared from their monomers by electrolytic polymerization or chemical polymerization.
