HEAD SUPPORTING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for assembling a shielding ring separately from a head supporting member by constituting the head supporting member in such a manner that the shielding ring is integrally formed to the head supporting member formed by sheet metals and a magnetic head is mounted to the inner side of this shielding ring. CONSTITUTION:A head carriage 21 which is the head supporting member is formed of sheets, such as iron sheets, by pressing and the shielding ring 22 is integrally formed by drawing to the upper part of the front end 21a. The magnetic head 7 is mounted by press fitting or adhering, etc., to the inner space 22a of the shielding ring 22. Plural ribs 23 for reinforcement are integrally formed to the lower part of this head carriage 21. The need for assembling the shielding ring separately from the head supporting member is eliminated in this way and, therefore, the number of parts and the man-hours for assembly are drastically reduced and the cost is reduced.
