Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To wind a strip on a roll without slipping the strip and to exert appropriate tension on the downstream side by providing many small holes on the periphery of the roll, and allowing a suction passage to communicate with a baffle pipe in the roll. CONSTITUTION:Many small holes 15 are provided on the periphery of a hollow suction bridle roll 14. A baffle plate 23 is fixed to a stand 10 with a gap formed with the periphery of the roll 14 on which the strip 1 is not wound. When the strip 1 wetted with cooling water is wound on the roll 14, the air pressure in the roll 14 is reduced by operating a vacuum pump 26 through a suction pipe 28, a seal cap 22, the suction passage 19, and the baffle pipe 20. Consequently, the strip 1 is attracted by the roll 14, and the small hole 15 is closed by the strip 1. Accordingly, even a wetted strip 1 is wound on the roll 14 without being slipped, and appropriate tension can be exerted on the downstream side.
