Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To quantitatively evaluate the surface shape of org. oriented films by immersing glass substrates of a liquid crystal optical device formed by using the org. oriented films into an aq. HF soln. of a prescribed concn. to peel the org. oriented films. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal display element is disassembled at the point of a sealing member 3 and is thereby separated to the upper substrate 1 and the lower substrate 2. After the liquid crystal sticking to the respective substrates is removed, the substrates 1, 2 are cut to 2 to 3cm sizes and the substrates are immersed into the aq. HF soln. of 1 to 27% concn. to peel the org. oriented films and to form samples. The quantitative evaluation of the surface shape of the oriented films after rubbing by observation is possible in this way and, therefore, the control of the surface shape of the oriented films of the liquid crystal optical device by using the results thereof is enabled and the execution of a high degree of quality control is possible.
