ELECTRODE FOR GLASS FUSING FURNACE

PURPOSE: To provide better quality electrodes with inexpensive production cost by creating an electrode axis which can be liquid cooled in midair and connected to a power source using an inner metal tube having a high conductivity and an outer metal tube having mechanical durability and heat resistance. CONSTITUTION: An electrode axis 2 has a concentric type tube construction consisting of an inner tube 21 made by metal having excellent conductivity and an outer tube 22 made by heat resistant metal having mechanical strength. While electrical connection of low-resistance between the electrode axis 2 and electrode body 3 is secured by two engaged and tapered portions 27, 37, mechanical fixing by screwing between the axis 2 and the body 3 is achieved. Accordingly, high mechanical strength and conductivity with little loss can be obtained at low cost.
