Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To decrease obliquely incident birefringence drastically and to improve optical uniformity and heat resistance by graft-copolymerizing a styrenic resin contg. a maleic anhydride or maleimide component and an arom. polycarbonate. CONSTITUTION:30-90wt.% styrenic resin contg. 1-50mol% maleic anhydride or maleimide component and having a wt. average MW of 20,000-250,000 and 70-10wt.% arom. polycarbonate having at least one unsatd. group on average per molecule on its terminals, main chain or side chains and a viscosity-average MW of 2,000-100,000 are graft-copolymerized in the presence of an MW modifier (e.g. n-dodecyl mercaptan) or a polymn. initiator (e.g. dinonyl peroxide) to obtain a molding material for optics consisting of a graft copolymer having a micro phase dispersion of 0.5mum or smaller.
