Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To effectively attain the diagnose and the management of a network fault by unifying the format of information from a low-order management equipment even in a complicated network in which plural network management areas are interposed together. CONSTITUTION:When a high-order management equipment M receives a data from the low-order management equipment LM1, the information 1 is utilized to discriminate whether or not the data is related to fault management. When the data relates to the fault management, it is informed to a fault management section S. The management section S uses the information 2 to discriminate from which management equipment the data is sent and uses the information 3 to confirm the number of object equipments. The information 4 is used to identify the equipment number and sets of the information 5, 6, 7 confirm the state of the fault. Moreover, the information 8 is used to confirm a detailed content and the content of the information 8 is displayed to the operator of the equipment M. The fault history of each equipment is accumulated and stored in a database D for fault management. The information 9 having not only information relating to each equipment but also the status in the management area of the equipment LM1 is displayed in terms of a message generated by the operator of the equipment LM1.
