BALE OPENER WITH SAFETY DEVICE

PURPOSE: To provide the subject bale opening machine having such a scheme that a danger area is shielded by sensory and/or mechanical means to detect or prevent an object from intruding into the danger area to thus reliably protect the danger area and keep the monitored areas optimum and minimum. CONSTITUTION: This bale opening machine has such a scheme that, a majority of a danger area 18 (shown by dotted lines) including an opening roller is covered with a casing 6 of an opening member 4, and there are furnished monitored areas 19.1, 19.2, 19.3 covering the front area 18.1 and both side areas 18.2, 18.3 each located under the danger area to prevent any object from intruding via the front or sides into the danger area 18 without being hampered by a mechanical protective means and/or being discovered by a sensor; wherein the size and shape of the monitored area are variable, being determined as a function (relationship) between the maximum relative speed between the danger area and an object to be intruded and the period of time necessary for obviating a danger source.
