SEWING MACHINE WITH DEVICE FOR MOVING PIPING PIECE HAVING CUT AT CENTER OF BOTH ENDS

PURPOSE: To facilitate a piping work in a pocket entrance without hindering the supply and alignment of the main part of a workpiece by forming a free space being as large as possible between a piping one-side placement board and the upper side of a table. CONSTITUTION: The main part 26 of the workpiece is aligned in a fabric inserting station 7 on the placement board 22 in accordance with an optical sewing indication sign which is transmitted from a sewing indication sign illumination in order to execute piping in the pocket entrance and, continuously, a piping strip 36 is placed on the prescribed position of the placement board 22. Then a grasp folding mechanism 30 in the upper part is lowered by a compressed air cylinder 20 to put the both horizontal leg parts 40 of angle rails 37 and 38 on the piping strip 36. In this case, a grip needle 42 penetrates a vertical hole 75 in the horizontal leg parts 40 and is put through the piping strip 36. A groove 71 is formed at the upper side 70 in the placement board 22 and the point edge 73 of a knife 52 enters into the groove 71. Then notched parts 78 are formed at the both ends of the piping strip 36 by sliding in the horizontal direction of the knife 52.
