Zusammenfassung:	Oxyalkylated products having a narrow molecular weight range, which are particularly suitable for use as surfactants, can be obtained by the reaction of C2-4 alkylene oxides with linear or branched monohydric alcohols or (alkyl)phenols having 6 to 30 carbon atoms in the presence of specific catalysts. These catalysts are magnesium aryloxides or the reaction products of magnesium aryloxides or high molecular weight magnesium alkoxides with phosphorus-containing acids or esters.
