ALLOY FOR COMPACTED BULLET AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To manufacture the alloy for a compacted bullet having high penetrating length against protective goods by compacting W powder having specified grain size, infiltrating copper thereto and preparing an alloy having specified compositional ratio. CONSTITUTION:A binder (such as wax) is added to W powder having 2 to 25mu grain size and the mixture is packed into a rubber mold having the shape of a liner, which is subjected to cold isostatic pressing under about 500 to 2000kgf/cm compacting pressure. Next, the green compact is dewaxed and is sintered at about 1100 to 1250 deg.C for about 10 to 120min in vacuum or in a hydrogen atmosphere. A Cu disk is placed on the sintered body, which is subjected to immersing treatment at about 1100 to 1250 deg.C for about 10 to 120min in a hydrogen atmosphere to form a liner for a compacted bullet contg. 60 to 80wt.% W and the balance Cu. In this way, the liner for a compacted bullet having extremely excellent penetrating length can be obtd.
