MANUFACTURE OF TITANIUM CLAD STEEL TUBE

PURPOSE:To manufacture a Ti clad steel pipe having excellent joinability at clad interface by laminating Ni layer and Fe layer on inner surface of a hollow cylindrical steel billet in the form of foil or plating and executing hot-extrusion after packing powdery Ti between the above and a metal capsule set at the inside thereof. CONSTITUTION:On the inner surface of the hollow cylindrical steel billet 1 of carbon steel, alloy steel, etc., the Ni layer 2 and Fe layer 3 are formed in the form of metal foil or plating, respectively. The concentric circular capsule 4 composed of low carbon steel-made thin sheet, is set at the inside thereof, and after closing the lower end part with an end plate 5, the Ti powder 6 is packed into space 6 between the capsule 4 and the billet 1 and the upper end part is closed with an end plate 7, too. After evacuating the air in the space 6 packed with Ti by using a gas exhaust hole 8 of the end plate 7, the gas exhaust hole 8 is closed and successively, this is hot-extruded and worked to manufacture the Ti clad steel pipe.
