INHIBITOR OF MALIGNANT TUMOR CELL MULTIPLICATION

PURPOSE:To obtain the title inhibitor comprising a monoglyceride, a fractionated traction of active component prepared by culturing a malignant tumor cell of animal and extracting a medium from which the cell is removed. CONSTITUTION:MEM medium of Eagle containing 10% bovine neonatal serum is used a growing medium and an extracting medium, Hel cell derived from human uretine cancer is previously cultured in the growing medium, serum is removed and the resulting substance is transplanted to the extracting medium and culture is continued. The prepared culture mixture is lyophilized to give crude hygroscopic powder, which is suspended in water, a methanolsoluble substance is separated and the solvent is distilled away under reduced pressure. The residue product is dissolved in purified water, adjusted to pH8.0 with dilute ammonia water, the resulting substance is extracted with butanol, the prepared crude active substance is chromatographed by a silica gel column to give a monoglyceride comprising pentadecanol glyceride as an active fraction having extremely higher polarity than cholesterol.
