WATERPROOF TYPE TWISTED TENSILE BODY

PURPOSE:To obtain the waterproof type twisted tensile body adequate when used for a waterproof type optical cable by packing a water absorptive swelling material into the gap parts formed between the tensile bodies consisting of >=3 pieces of the tensile bodies which are twisted and doubled. CONSTITUTION:For example one piece of the tensile body 1 is arranged in a central part and 6 pieces of the tensile bodies 1 are arranged and twisted together on the outer periphery thereof. The water absorptive swelling material 2 is packed into the gap parts between the tensile bodies 1. The higher effect is obtd. if the amt. of the water absorptive swelling material 2 to be packed is adequately changed by the water absorptive swelling characteristics of the material. Since the water penetration length at the time of water infiltration is changed by the amt. of the packing, the packing of the water absorptive swelling material in the largest possible amt. is more preferable for waterproof characteristics. The flow of the water in the spacings be tween the tensile bodies is obviated in this way and the excellent waterproof characteristics are obtd.; in addition, the handling similar to the ordinary twisted tensile bodies is possible and the adequate use of this tensile body as the multifiber waterproof type optical cable for which high tension is required and which is easy to be bent is possible.
