Zusammenfassung:	Plastics surfaces are provided with a highly adherent, water- and ethanol-resistant coating, as a clear varnish or pigmented, by painting with an aqueous dispersion of (meth)acrylate polymers built up from 20 to 90 % by weight of alkyl or cycloalkyl acrylates and/or methacrylates having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the ester radical and from 80 to 10 % by weight of acrylates and/or methacrylates containing aromatic groups as the ester radical, or containing aromatic groups in the ester radical, and small amounts of further monomers. The copolymers are preferably emulsion polymers and are built up in a plurality of phases, for example in accordance with the core/shell model.
