DEVICE FOR DRAWING OPTICAL FIBER BASE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To automatically allow operation such as drawing and cutting always at the specified drawing force by controlling the slip quantity of slip mechanism in such a manner that the detected value of a load detecting sensor is kept constant. CONSTITUTION:The load detecting sensor 25 detects the force proportional to the drawing force thereof. The detected value is converted by a load/voltage converter 27 to the voltage corresponding thereto which is then inputted to a isochronous response to converter 28. The isochronous response converter 28 compares the voltage with the outputs of a target load setter 28 and a load correcting setter 30 in accordance with the detected value from the load detecting sensor 25, determines the correct slip quantity and outputs the same via a driving amplifier 32 to the slip mechanism 26. Namely, the isochronous response converter 28 delivers the output to the slip mechanism 26 so as to increase the slip quantity when the drawing force of the optical fiber base material is larger than the set value. The movement of a supporting arm for movement is then adjusted slower than the set speed to control the drawing force so as to lower to the set value.
