IMAGE DISPLAY BODY

PURPOSE:To execute an image display which is bright and high in contrast by arraying the end faces, on one side, of many pieces of optical fibers which are concentrically disposed in prescribed four layers, constituting the sloped end faces thereof as an image display face and converging the end faces, on the other side, as a surface facing a light source. CONSTITUTION:The ends, on one side, of many pieces of the optical fibers each disposed concentrically with a core layer consisting of a high-refractive index transparent polymer, a clad material layer of a low-refractive index transparent polymer, a protective layer consisting of a transparent polymer having good adhesiveness to the clad material forming polymer, and a light shielding layer consisting of a polymer compsn. contg. a white pigment, are arrayed and joined. These faces are inclined at about 7 to 15 deg. with the optical fiber axis and are formed as the image display surface and the ends on the other side are converged as the part facing the light source. The bright display screen having a high brightness on the front surface is obtd. in this way and the easily visible display of the good contrast is obtd.
