TRANSFER MATERIAL EXHIBITING METALLIC LUSTER AND PREPARATION OF BASE MATERIAL HAVING METALLIC LUSTER

PURPOSE:To obtain a base material with excellent durability, design characteristics, etc., and metallic luster by using a transfer material wherein a transfer layer prepd. by successively laminating a release layer, a thin-film metal layer with micro-gaps and an adhesive layer is provided on a sheet and transferring it onto the surface of the base material. CONSTITUTION:A release layer 2 is prepd. on a base sheet 1 such as a polyester film and, if necessary, a printed pattern layer is prepd. on the release layer 2. Then, a deposition substance such as nickel, chromium or aluminum is deposited thereon by vacuum deposition, etc., to form a thin-film metallic layer 3 with metallic luster and micro-gaps under a crystalline condition. Furthermore, an adhesive layer 4 is prepd. thereon to form a transfer layer 6. The obtd. transfer layer 6 of the transfer material is transferred onto the surface of the base material 5 and heat-treated to obtain a base material with metallic luster. Remaining air, etc., on the resin layer of the transfer layer 6 permeates through the metallic layer 3 and therefore, no fine protuberance caused by air bubble occurs on the surface of the base material.
