HAIR DYE

PURPOSE:To obtain a hair dye, containing cresol or phenol as a toning ingredient and capable of providing natural color according to age with hardly any sensitizing properties. CONSTITUTION:A hair dye containing cresol or phenol as a toning ingredient. The composition of this kind is capable of dyeing hair to grayish brown if encountered with a metal salt, e.g. Fe, without coloring alone at all. The following are other examples. (a) a hair dye capable of dyeing the hair to dark reddish brown by forming a metal salt of salicylic acid and/or p-aminosalicylic acid with iron. (b) a hair dye, containing mercurochrome as a hair dyeing ingredient and capable of dyeing the hair to bright red within a wide range of acidity to alkalinity and providing somewhat dirty red in the presence of an Fe salt and (c) a hair dye, containing acrinol as a hair dyeing ingredient and thereby capable of dyeing the hair to a yellowish color, especially a dark color at ammoniacal pH and turning yellowish brown in the presence of the Fe salt.
