Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To prevent measuring light reflected by a recording face from being made directly incident on a light receiving part to correctly measure the distance by providing an electronic copying device with the light receiving part, which receives the reflected light from the recording face, off an axis symmetrical to the optical axis of thrown light of a light throwing part. CONSTITUTION:In an electronic copying device, a light receiving part 12 which receives the reflected light from a recording face 40 is provided off the axis symmetrical to the optical axis of thrown light of a light throwing part 11 with respect to the normal in the irradiated position of the light thrown from the light throwing part 11 to the recording face 40 like a blackboard or a white board. Therefore, a part of the measuring light reflected by the recording face 40 is made incident on the light receiving part 12 provided off the axis. Consequently, a photodetector 31 provided in the light receiving part outputs a measured distance signal without saturation of the signal level due to the received measuring light even at the time of close-up of the recording face having a high reflection factor like the white board. Thus, the light receiving part outputs the stable measured distance signal.
