Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To expand a temperature range applicable to room heating operation and save energy by additionally providing a heater around a room heat exchanger in a heat pump type cooler-heater to control the operation of an air conditioner according to temperature requirements inside and outside the room. CONSTITUTION:An air conditioner 12 is constituted of a compressor 1, four-way valve 2, respective indoor and outdoor heat exchangers 3, 7, respective indoor and outdoor fans 4, 8 and heater 10 provided around the indoor heat exchanger 7. The operation of the air conditioner is controlled by a control apparatus 13 on the basis of respective signals of outdoor and indoor temperature sensors 14, 15. Namely, the heating operation by the heater 10 according to the indoor and outdoor temperature ranges and the heating operation by the heat pump operation of the air conditioner 12 are selectively used. Thus, the applicable temperature range is expanded by the use of a single set of the air conditioner 12 while energy saving is achieved.
