METHOD FOR FORMING EMBOSSED CHARACTER ON IC CARD

PURPOSE:To form an embossed character without applying stress to an IC card by irradiating the surface of the IC card with ultraviolet rays after a character is formed with an ultraviolet-setting adhesive resin with adhesiveness to the surface of the IC card thereon and sticks thereto. CONSTITUTION:The stage to stick resin to the surface of the IC card is executed by a resin applying device consisting of a discharge part 12, an X-Y table 11 and a control part 13, and the stage to set the resin is executed by an ultraviolet irradiating device 14. The control part 13 controls the discharging time of the discharge part 12 and the moving amount of the X-Y table 11 so that a locus in a position facing the IC card 1 locked on the X-Y stage 11 of a discharge nozzle 12-1 can draw characters, marks, etc. Consecutively, the IC card stuck with the resin forming a character receives ultraviolet rays emitted from an ultraviolet lamp 14-1 in the ultraviolet irradiating device 14, and the resin is set and turns into a character or a number 8-2, which firmly sticks to the surface 8 of the IC card 1.
