Zusammenfassung:	NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (X is H, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R is lower alkyl or phenyl). EXAMPLE:1-(4-Chlorobenzoyl)-2-(2-methylsulfonyl)hydrazine. USE:Useful as a synthetic intermediate for agricultural chemicals and medicine, especially insecticides. PREPARATION:Hydrazine (preferably hydrazine hydrate) in a molar amount of 1-10 times based on a compound expressed by formula II (R is lower alkyl) is added thereto in an alcohol, such as methanol, ethanol or propanol, and reacted at 0-100 deg.C, preferably 10-30 deg.C for 0.5-50hr, preferably 1-10hr to afford the compound expressed by formula I.
