OPTICAL FIBER ASSEMBLY BASE

PURPOSE:To facilitate the assembly of optical fibers on a connector substrate by elevating a substrate fitting base as holder pedestals are made to approach and leaving the substrate fitting base while the slanting angle of holders mounted on the holder pedestals is maintained. CONSTITUTION:The connector substrate 60 is mounted on a substrate pedestal 1 and holders 50 which clamp the optical fibers are mounted and fixed on the holder pedestals 21 and 31 so that end surfaces of the optical fibers face each other. Then, the tips of the optical fibers 70 whose armours are removed about on specific positions on the connector substrate 60 while flexing. Then when an operation mechanism 50 is operated, both holder mount bases 20 and 30 approach the substrate fitting base 10 and a substrate pedestal 11 is elevated. The tips of the optical fibers clamped by the holders 50 are guided smoothly to specific positions in the connector substrate 60 only by the operation of the operation mechanism 40 through a series of motions of the holder mount bases 20 and 30 and substrate pedestal 11.
