OPTICAL FIBER ASSEMBLY BASE

PURPOSE:To easily assemble optical fibers on a substrate and to improve the productivity by making a movable mount base approach a substrate device base while turning the tip sides of coupling members and slanting the movable mount base from a slanting state to a horizontal state associatively with the turning. CONSTITUTION:When a connector substrate 80 is mounted on the substrate mount base 10 and a holder 70 which clamps an optical fiber 90 is mounted on movable mount bases 40 and 50 in slanting states, the tip of the bare optical fiber having its armour removed abuts on a specific position on the connector substrate 80 while deflecting. Then when the tip sides of both coupling members 20 and 30 are turned by a turning means 60, the coupling members 20 and 30 turn from the slanting states to the horizontal states. The movable mount based 40 and 50 slide on the coupling members 40 and 50 by feed screws 24 and 34 toward the substrate mount base 10 associatively with the turning and the tip of the optical fiber 90 clamped by each holder 70 is guided smoothly into the capillary 83 of the connector substrate 80.
