Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To enable required and predetermined cooling of a bar-shaped electrodeless light emitting tube even in the case of reducing the diameter of the electrodeless light emitting tube by arranging a translucent ventilating pipe in such a manner that it surrounds the electrodeless light emitting tube and ventilating the inside of the ventilating pipe. CONSTITUTION:A ventilating pipe 12 is formed from quartz glass of good ultraviolet-ray transmittance and is tubular. The pipe 12 is so arranged that it surrounds an electrodeless light emitting tube 1 provided at its center. A blower 13 as means for ventilating is provided opposite to one side opening 121 of the pipe. Air from the blower 13 is allowed to flow through the inside of the pipe 12 and along the longitudinal direction of the pipe and is discharged from the other side opening 122 to the outside of the device. The tube wall of the light emitting tube 1 is thus cooled in a uniform and well-balanced manner by air flow in the longitudinal direction of the light emitting tube 1.
