DISPLAY DEVICE FOR COLOR OVERLAYING

PURPOSE:To make an overlay display wherein a contour is sharp by adding such an analog overlay voltage signal that an overlay requiring the sharp contour is white directly to an image voltage signal and supplying the resulting signal to a display device as an analog voltage signal for three primary color components. CONSTITUTION:This device has a contour control signal generation part 6, an overlay three-primary-color component generation part 7, and an overlay three-primary-color component addition part 8. When the decision result of the contour control signal generation part 6 shows a color in which the contour is made sharp, the contour control signal generation part 6 does not output overlap data 24-26. Then a selection control signal 30 controls the overlay three-primary-color component addition part 8 so as to select and output analog voltage signals 27-29 for R, G, and B inputted from the overlay three-primary- color component generation part 7. Consequently, a multicolor overlay display wherein the contour is not sharp can be made as an overlay display wherein only a specific color is white and sharp.
