An annular expansion gap 25 is formed between the peripheral wall 23 at the body section 7 of a reactor pressure vessel 3 and the wall 15 of containment in order to accommodate thermal expansion and shrinkage of reactor pressure vessel 3 during cyclic operation of reactor.
