Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To accommodate thermal expansion and shrinkage by providing a shelf part on the wall of a containment while surrounding the peripheral wall through an interval such that a an annular expansion gap is defined around the peripheral wall of reactor pressure vessel. CONSTITUTION: A reactor pressure vessel having a head assembly is set in a core cavity defined by the wall 15 of a concrete containment partitioned into upper part, i.e., a fuel replacing canal 17, and lower part, i.e., a well 19, receiving the body section 7 of a reactor pressure vessel 3. An annular expansion gap 25 is formed between the peripheral wall 23 at the body section 7 of a reactor pressure vessel 3 and the wall 15 of containment in order to accommodate thermal expansion and shrinkage of reactor pressure vessel 3 during cyclic operation of reactor.
