PREPARATION OF FIBER REINFORCED RESIN FOAM

PURPOSE:To prepare a fiber reinforced resin foam excellent in hardness and smoothness and easily subjected to painting by spraying the same resin as that infiltrated in a nonwoven fabric to a double conveyor in a laminar form before supplying a nonwoven fabric laminate. CONSTITUTION:For example, a nonwoven fabric is impregnated with a foamable acid curable phenol resin by an SMC impregnator 1 and a plurality of the impregnated nonwoven fabrics are laminated to be transferred by a conveyor 2 and the aforementioned resin is uniformly sprayed to the surface of the laminate 3 by a sprayer 4 and, thereafter, the laminate is sent in a double conveyor 5 and foamed to prepare a plate material. Or, the resin having the same quality as the sprayed resin and not mixed with a foaming agent is sprayed to prepare the plate material in the same way. Both molded plate materials have extremely smooth and hard surfaces and are excellent in painting properties and strength.
