CARRIER FOR DYEING POLYESTER

PURPOSE: To obtain a carrier mixture not containing a halogen and capable of giving uniformly dyed polyester fibers not deteriorating light fastness and good in reproducibility by mixing an N-alkylphthalimide with a specific compound. CONSTITUTION: This carrier mixture comprises 40-90 wt.% of an N- alkylphthalimide and 50-8 wt.% of a compound of the formula [R is a 1-7C alkyl or phenyl, benzyl or phenylethyl which can have a substituent (a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy or a 1-6C alkoxycarbony); R is H, a 1-4C alkyl, OH or a 1-4C alkoxycarbonyl; (m) is 0 or 1; (n) is 0 or 1, provided that (m) and (n) are not zero at the same time]. The carrier mixture preferably further contains an emulsifier and a solvent. The carrier mixture can be used for dyeing polyester fibers into the dyed polyester fibers which do not deteriorate the light fastness and is rich in reproducibility.
