Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To attain high Mn yield as well as decarburization in which the temp. of molten metal is controlled easily and rapidly by controlling the temp. of molten high-carbon ferromanganese at least in a part of a decarburizing blowing period in which oxidizing gas is blown against the surface of the molten high-carbon ferromanganese, incorporating water in a sprayed state to the oxidizing gas, and then blowing the resulting water-containing gas against the above molten metal surface. CONSTITUTION:While agitating molten high-carbon ferromanganese 2 by means of the shaking of a converter body 1 or the blowing of gas through tuyeres 5, oxidizing gas from a pipe 7 is blown against the surface of the above molten metal 2 via a lance 4. Subsequently, after the temp. of the molten metal 2 reaches the prescribed temp. of 1600 deg.C or above, a gas containing water in a sprayed state, prepared by mixing water into the above gas via a pipe 9 while continuing the blowing of the above gas, is blown against the molten metal 2 surface to carry out decarburization and obtain the prescribed carbon concentration. Moreover, it is desirable that the above oxidizing gas is an O2-containing gas and the mixing ratio with water is regulated so that the ratio of water to gas is about 0.2-20kg to Nm , and further, it is also desirable to control the molten metal 2 temp. by regulating the mixing ratio of water with the oxidizing gas.
