PURPOSE:To enable the upper surface plate of a desk to be pushed back with a heavy article rested on the plate when the plate is drawn out by dividing the side end section of the upper surface plate of the desk from its center section, and thereby forming it into a slide construction which permits the section to be drawn out at this side. CONSTITUTION:The side end section 2 of the upper surface plate of a desk is formed into a block construction separately from the center section 1 of the upper surface plate of the desk while being formed into a slide construction which permits the side end section to be drawn out at this side. In the slide construction, the side end section 2 of the upper surface plate of the desk is supported by a sill 3 provided at the end section of the desk and the center section 1 of the upper surface plate of the desk via ball bearings 4. The ball bearings are less in friction, even when a heavy article is rested on the side end section 2 of the upper surface plate of the desk, the section can thereby be drawn out at this side and be pushed back to its original position smoothly with fairly little force applied. In this place, the side end section 2 of the desk is made to be higher than the center section 1 of the upper surface plate of the desk by 3 to 10cm in height, and it is desired that the side end section 2 of the upper surface plate of the desk which can be drawn out at this side, is arranged in such a way that a part of the side end section goes underneath the center section 1 of the upper surface plate of the desk with a space kept, which is equal to or more than 3cm, when it is pushed back to its original position for the purpose of resting information processing equipments on the side end section.
