Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To enhance the quality of a caulked core of electrical steel sheets by forming an insulating film on the surface of a steel sheet and making the Vickers hardness of the surface layer of the steel sheet higher than that of the central layer by a specified number. CONSTITUTION:Caulking projections 14, 17, that is, caulking holes are formed on (in) a steel sheet 1. The caulking projection 14 is forced into a caulking hole in a steel sheet blanked and held in a die 6 by blanking pressure at the time of blanking the steel sheet 1 and the lateral pressure of the die. At this time, an insulating film is formed on the surface of the steel sheet 1 and the Vickers hardness of the surface layer of the steel sheet 1 is made higher than that of the central layer by >=10. The quality of a caulked core of electrical steel sheets can be enhanced.
