Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve cooling efficiency and mechanical strength and to lower resistivity by dispersing ceramics mainly composed of the balance Ta, Ba, Ca or the multi-component oxide of these metals and Cu in a specific ratio of metal Cu. CONSTITUTION:This target material has the compsn. consisting of the ceramics contg. 8 to 40vol.% metal Cu and the balance mainly composed of the multi- component oxide of Tl, Ba and Ca or Tl, Ba, Ca and Cu and the compsn. formed by uniformly dispersing the above-mentioned ceramics in the base of the metal Cu. This target material exhibits a high thermal conductivity and deflective strength and the low resistivity. The desired cooling efficiency, resistivity and mechanical strength are not assured if the content of the metal Cu in this target material is below 8%. The relative content of the Cu is too high and the formation of the superconducting film having the prescribed compsn. is not possible if the content exceeds 40%. The target material is produced by hot pressing the mixture composed of prescribed ratios of the respective component powders in, for example, a vacuum atmosphere.
