METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCING WEAR IN MAGNETIC RECORDER

PURPOSE: To prevent wear due to the waiting time of a long period on the same track by separating a magnetic head from the track by a prescribed time when the magnetic head being in a waiting position exceeds a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION: The track counter SZ of an abrasion prevention control circuit AB reports a track 7 on which a magnetic head HD is positioned and a timer TIM outputs a start pulse ST when the waiting time of the head HD exceeds the prescribed time. The circuit AB outputs a changeover signal US to change over a changeover switch S2 by receiving the pulse ST. As a result, a positioning device controlling electronic device EP is connected to the circuit AB and separates the head HD from the track via a head positioning device P by the signal of the circuit AB. Then, when an wear prevention period is elapsed, the head HD is returned to be positioned. Thus, damage due to that the head is positioned on the same track for a long time is prevented.
