Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To reduce the propagation delay of gate pulses or a data signal by forming an area where there is no conductor opposite the wiring patterns of gate lines and data lines. CONSTITUTION:This device has a 1st substrate which has picture element electrodes 12 and thin film transistors 13 at intersection parts of data lines 14 and gate lines 15, a 2nd substrate which has a conductor 19, and a liquid crystal layer between the substrates. The 2nd substrate includes the area where there is no conductor 19 opposite the wiring patterns of the gate lines 15 and data lines 14. Namely, the area of a common electrode 19 at the part opposite the wiring patterns becomes small, so parasitic capacity becomes small. Thus, wiring capacity is reduced to secure a signal write time.
