CONNECTOR FOR SWITCHING OPTICAL TRANSMISSION LINE

PURPOSE:To allow simple and rapid switching and connecting of optical transmission lines by providing a pair of pins mounted across the pin mounting grooves of 1st and 2nd connector blocks and pressing means for elastically pressing these pins to the pin mounting grooves. CONSTITUTION:The end faces of the connector blocks 11, 12 are pressed to each other by means of an axial coil spring 36. The 1st connector block 11 is fixed to a housing 31 by a fixing plate 37 and the 2nd connector block 12 is made movable only in the transverse direction within the housing 31. Actuators 38A, 38B which laterally moves the 2nd connector block 12 are installed on both sides of this housing 31. The pins 23 are held supported to a pin holder 39 and are pressed by an upper coil spring 40 to the pin mounting grooves of both the connector blocks. Switching of the optical transmission lines is executed merely by laterally moving one of the connector blocks 11, 12 in this way. The switching and connecting are thus easily and rapidly executed.
