METHOD AND DEVICE FOR STRAIN RELIEVING OF I-BEAM

PURPOSE:To simply and surely eliminate a strain of an I-beam caused by welding by holding horizontally the I-beam obtained by welding, pressing successively a flange by prescribed length each from the tip, and carrying the beam intermittently, while bringing it to strain relieving press. CONSTITUTION:An I-beam 3 consisting of a web 1 obtained by welding a steel plate, and a flange 2 is held horizontally so as to be carriable in the longitudinal direction on a roller 4 of a carrying conveyor 5. This I-beam 3 is carried by prescribed length each and stopped. When this intermittent carrying is stopped, the flanges 2 of both sides are pressed by prescribed length from the tip, respectively by a strain relieving press 7, a strain is eliminated by its length and the carrying is further executed by prescribed length. Said strain relieving press 7 is constituted so as to insert and press the flange 2 by a press head 9 and a backup material 10 by an operation of a hydraulic cylinder 8. By executing successively and repeatedly said strain relieving press and intermittent carrying, the I-beam 3 can be brought to strain relieving extending over the overall length.
