METHOD AND DEVICE FOR POLISHING OPTICAL CONNECTOR FERRULE

PURPOSE:To perform polishing continuously with the same polishing history by arraying ferrules to be polished linearly, and putting them in circumferential rotary motion and sending them across the travel direction of a polishing film which travels in one direction. CONSTITUTION:Tape type polishing films 12 and 13 which are arranged in one or plural arrays are put in the circumferential rotary motion in plane and the ferrules 10 to be polished are sent continuously across the travel direction of the films 12 and 13. In this case, when the polishing film 12 moves at a constant speed as shown by an arrow (a) and one ferrule 10'' moves at a constant speed as shown by an arrow (b), the polishing film 12 crosses the area of the ferrule 10'' slantingly and spirally. Such a matter is the same with ferrules 10' and 10''' before and behind the ferrule 10'' and they have the same polishing history. Consequently, a ferrule feed conveyor 11 is sent at a constant speed to polish all the ferrules continuously with the same polishing history.
