Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium with excellent durability which has a colored layer with gloss and clear color tone by using pearl color pigments in the colored layer. CONSTITUTION:As the magnetic layer and the colored layer are both formed by coating, adhesion between the two layers is good. The colored layer contains pearl color pigments. As for the pigments, particles of flake-type mica or mica- like iron oxide (alpha-Fe2O3), for example, are coated with transparent metal oxides or hydroxides having large refractive index and high surface reflection such as titan dioxide and zirconium dioxide. These pearl color pigments generate gloss and bright color by the interference effect of the particle surfaces and the coating films. The brightness of the coatings depend on the film thickness. By this method, colored layers with gloss and clear color tone can be obtained, and adhesion between the magnetic layer and the colored layer is improved, and as a result, the colored medium with excellent durability can be obtained.
