Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To decrease the frictional force and attraction force with a magnetic head and to improve durability by constituting the magnetic recording medium to be used for a magnetic disk device of a magnetic recording medium layer which is formed on a base, a protective layer which covers the recording medium layer and consists of silicon oxycarbide and a lubricating film which covers the protective layer. CONSTITUTION:An Ni-P or Ni-Cu-P layer is formed by plating on a substrate 1 consisting of an Al-Mg alloy to constitute an underlying layer 2. The surface is ground by a lapping tape to form the substrate having about 500Angstrom Rmax. of the substrate 1 and the underlying layer 2. The film of the magnetic recording medium 3 is then formed by a sputtering method, etc., thereon and the surface thereof is coated with a surface protective film 4 consisting of the silicon oxycarbide. The film 4 is formed to 500Angstrom thickness and further, the fluorine lubricating agent is applied thereon at need while the concn. thereof is adjusted to 1wt.%. The magnetic disk which obviates the generation of the degradation in the reproduced output against use for, for example, >=20,000 times of rotations, is obtd. in such a manner.
