Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To judge the cells alive or dead instantaneously by irradiating the cells of a microorganism on which a fluorescent dye is allowed to act with a beam of a specific wavelength to excite the dye to determine the strength of the light emitted from individual cells. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent dye such as Rohdamine 6G is allowed to act on the cells of a microorganism 7 and the cell bodies are irradiated with a beam of such a wavelength as the fluorescent dye is excited from the source 1 through the collector lens 2, the excitation filter 3, mirror 4 and the objective lens 5. Then, the intensity of the light from the individual cells are detected through the objective lens 5, the absorption filter 8 and the eyepiece 9 to judge the cells emitting weak light alive and the cells emitting strong light dead.
