Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To decrease the initial injection rate across the whole operating area by providing a plunger in a barrel in the reciprocatingly movable state, placing a cam for driving the plunger and forming a stage part at the peripheral surface of the apical part of the plunger. CONSTITUTION:A plunger 14 is provided in a barrel 11 in the reciprocatingly movable state. The plunger 14 is moved reciprocatingly in the axial direction by the spring force of a plunger spring 15 and the cam action of a fuel cam 16 so as to apply pressure to the fuel absorbed in a high pressure chamber 18 and force-feed it to an injection nozzle 20b. A stage part is formed at the peripheral surface of the apical part of the plunger 14. The time of closing a barrel port 12 by this stage part and the initiating time of the plunger pressing speed increase are synchronized. The initial injection rate across the whole operating area can be thus decreased.
