Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To achieve miniaturization of a structure and simplification of assembly by forming at least one cushioning valve by a plurality of valves in the tension stage and compressing stage, and selectively applying active or passive damping force to respective valves. CONSTITUTION: A piston 10 is housed in a cylinder 11 and formed of upper and lower divided casings 13, 14, and a valve unit 12 for generating active damping force is incorporated in it. In this case, a plurality of double valves 15, 16 are concentrically arranged in the valve unit 12, and they are operated by rotatable extending parts extending in a piston rod 17 fixed to the piston 10, namely, rotational shafts 18, 19. Moreover, respective rotational shafts 18, 19 are coaxially supported in a hole 20 of the piston rod 17, and the piston rod 17 is fixed to the upper casing 13. Therefore, a structure is miniaturized, and assembly in relation to a damper unit is facilitated.
