RECEIVER

PURPOSE:To cut noise while keeping stereophonic sensation by providing an operation frequency changing means which outputs a command signal, which changes a frequency band where the degree of separation is reduced, to an auto-separation control circuit in accordance with the detection signal from a radio state detecting means which detects the state of the reception radio wave received by an antenna. CONSTITUTION:A stereo demodulating circuit 10 is provided with an ASC 13 as an auto-separation circuit for automatic switching between stereo broadcast and monophonic broadcast. In this ASC 13, the frequency band where the degree of separation is reduced is changed stepwise by the command signal, which is outputted from an operation frequency changing means 14, in accordance with the field intensity detected by a field intensity detecting circuit 6 to cut the noise while keeping an impression of stereo. Thus, the harsh noise generated in a relatively high frequency band is effectively reduced even in a weak field area, where noise is apt to occur, while keeping stereophonic sensation.
