METHOD FOR ELECTRICALLY JOINING CERAMICS TO METAL AND INSERT MATERIAL FOR JOINING

PURPOSE:To carry out increase in joining strength, inhibition of deterioration in ceramics as a whole to be joined, etc., by, e.g., joining ceramics to be joined and metal while interposing stratiform composite ceramics in which insulating ceramics is provided to one side or both sides of conductive ceramics between the above ceramics to be joined and metal. CONSTITUTION:A layer of ceramics 1 to be joined, a layer of a first bond 2, stratiform composite ceramics consisting of a layer of conductive ceramics 3 and a layer of a second insulating ceramics 4b, a layer of a second bond 5, and metal 6 are successively disposed in the order named. Subsequently, electrodes of W, C, Mo, etc., are put on both ends 7a, 7b of the above conductive ceramics 3 layer to energize by which heating is applied, in succession, to respective layers from the conductive ceramics 3 side by means of the resulting Joule's heat to carry out joining.
