Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To easily obtain the carbon material having a high density and high electrical conductivity by mixing pitch contg. an optically anisotropic structure at a high ratio and graphite powder and subjecting the mixture to cold isostatic pressing, then subjecting the molding to a carbonization treatment and graphitization treatment successively under prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:The pitch contg. the optically anisotropic structure at >=30vol.% is produced by a method of subjecting coal tar pitch to a heat treatment in gaseous nitrogen flow, etc. The graphite powder is then mixed with this pitch and the mixture is preferably pulverized and is further subjected to an oxidation treatment at 240-300 deg.C. The powder is then subjected to the cold isostatic pressing under a prescribed pressure to produce the molding and thereafter, the molding is subjected to the carbonization treatment within the temp. range of 900-1400 deg.C set at a prescribed heating up rate. The carbonized matter obtd. in such a manner is then subjected to the graphitization treatment in a temp. range of 2500-3000 deg.C, by which the high density carbon material is obtd. The resultant carbon material is adequately used for an electrode for electric discharge machining, a crucible for vapor deposition of aluminum, etc. |
