AZIMUTH DISPLAY DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

PURPOSE:To display the azimuth of a vehicle with high accuracy by discriminating an azimuth angle detected by an azimuth angle detecting means by means of 1st and 2nd discriminating means and causing displaying elements for wide angle and narrow angle to light. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic sensor 4 always detects terrestrial magnetism H and amplifiers 5a and 5b always output signals Vx and Vy expressed by a prescribed expression. In addition, a microcomputer 8 reads the signals Vx and Vy in accordance with the instruction program of a ROM 8c and calculates an azimuth angle according to the prescribed expression. Then a wide-angle area to which the angle theta belongs is discriminated. When, for example, theta=50 deg., a wide-angle area R1 is discriminated and a discriminating signal indicating the area R1 is outputted and an LED 13a is caused to light. Then a narrow-angle area to which the angle theta belongs is discriminated. When, for example, theta=50 deg., a narrow angle area r2 is discriminated and a discriminating signal indicating the area r2 is outputted and an LED 14b is caused to light. Therefore, when theta=50 deg., the LEDs 13a and 14b are caused to light so as to indicate that the angle theta is between 36-70 deg. in the northeasterly direction.
