METAL MELTING FURNACE

PURPOSE:To discharge only melted metal from a furnace and to effectively prevent slag from discharging by controlling the operation of an inclining unit on the basis of the variation in a current value flowing to a coil provided around an outlet. CONSTITUTION:When a melted steel M is substantially discharged and slag S flows into an outlet 4, a magnetic field is abruptly varied and a current value flowing to a coil 10 is altered since the permeability of the slag S is different from that of the steel M. When the variation in the current value is measured by an ammeter 12 and input to a controller 13, the controller 13 detects that the slag S flows into the outlet 4 at that time, i.e., that the discharge of the steel M is substantially completed, simultaneously outputs a control signal to a driver 14, and the driver 14 so operates an actuator 9 as to return a furnace 1 to a horizontal position. Thus, the furnace 1 is immediately returned to the horizontal position to stop discharging of the slag S, and the slag S remains in the furnace 1 as it is.
